Using Dreamweaver
Using Dreamweaver:

The following instructions will cover typical usage of Dreamweaver, and assume the software has been installed correctly on your system. 

The instructions are only for individuals with a direct Internet connection, via modem or network. If you are behind a firewall or proxy server, the information below may not work. Consult your network administrator for more information. 


Publishing to Your Web Site

1) Select New Site from Site Menu

Fill in the following:

STEP 1 - Setting up Local Info

  1. Site Name - Your Websites Name
  2. Local Root Folder - Directory where the files are located on your local machine (hit the folder icon to select a folder - choose new folder if you have not created one yet.
  3. Select "Refresh Local File List Automatically
  4. Link Management Options: HTTP Address: put in: http://www.yourdomainname.com
  5. Select "Use Cache to Speed Link Updates" - very handy if you ever change a file name.

STEP 2 - Setting up Web Server Info

  1. Server Access - select FTP
  2. Host Directory - enter in "/html"
  3. Login - Your username
  4. Password - Your Password

STEP 3 - Upload files - Click on the Connect button

  • The left frame is your site's directory structure. 
  • The right frame is your file list. This is the frame to which you will drag and drop the files on your local system. 
  • Drag and drop files by clicking on the file that you wish to transfer over to your Web site. 
  • A box will display giving you the option to upload all related files.
