Setting Up Dial-Up for Windows NT
In order to get your Dial-up working on your computer(s), you will need to input the following information, by following the steps described below:
  1. Click the Start button, click Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. From the desktop, double-click My Computer.
  3. Double-click Dial-up Networking.
  4. If you receive a message stating that The phonebook is empty..., then click OK to add a new entry.
  5. If Dial-up Networking (DUN) already has other phone book entries, click New.
  6. If the New Phonebook Entry Wizard window appears, check the box labeled I know all about phonebook entries... and click Finish.
  7. In the New Phonebook Entry dialog, select the Basic tab.
  8. Check Use Telephony dialing properties.
  9. Un-check Use another port if busy.
  10. For Entry name, enter linkLINE.
  11. Enter the country code and area code of the number you are dialing, plus the phone number itself.
  12. Under Dial using, select your modem.
  13. On the New Phonebook Entry window, click OK.
  14. You will now be in the Dial-up Networking program, and the phone book entry you just created should be selected in the Phonebook entry to dial text box.
  15. Click the Dial button.
  16. Enter your username and password.
  17. Do not enter anything for the Domain.
  18. There is also an option to Save Password, which can be selected if desired.
  19. Click OK to dial into linkLINE.
  20. Once you are connected, a window will appear informing you that 'You have successfully connected to the Dial-up Server. Click OK to close this window.'

To dial-up automatically...

  1. Double Click 'My Computer'.
  2. Double Click 'Control Panel'.
  3. Double Click 'Internet' or 'Internet Options'.
  4. Click on the 'Connections' tab.
  5. Click on the dial-up connection that says 'Linkline'.
  6. Click on the option 'Dial whenever a network connection is not present'.
  7. Remove any other dial up connections that you do not use, (Click on the connection then click 'Remove').
  8. Click 'OK'.
  9. Close the Control Panel.
