In order to get your Dial-up working on your computer, you will need to input
the following information, by following the steps described below:
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking folder.
- Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
- Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing, type linkLINE
- Click the Next button.
- In the Area code and Telephone number text boxes, type your local linkLINE
access number. Remember to check with your local telephone company to make
sure that the number you choose is a local toll-free call.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Finish button.
- Right Click the linkLINE icon.
- Select Properties.
- Click the Server Type tab.
- Uncheck Log on to network.
- Check Enable software compression.
- Uncheck Require encrypted password.
- Uncheck NetBEUI.
- Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.
- Check TCP/IP.
- Click the OK button.
- Click the OK button to close the window. Close all windows so only your
desktop is showing.
- Follow the remaining steps...
Would you like to... Dial-up Manually? or Automatically?
To dial-up manually...
- Double Click 'My Computer'
- Double Click 'Dial-Up Networking'
- Right Click on the linkLINE icon.
- Select 'Create Shortcut'
- Windows will prompt you to create shortcut on desktop. Click 'Yes'.
- Close the 'Dial-Up' networking window and 'My Computer' window if open.
- Double click the 'Shortcut to linkLINE' icon on your desktop. Type in
your linkLINE username and password.
- Click 'Connect'.
To dial-up automatically...
- Double Click 'My Computer'.
- Double Click 'Control Panel'.
- Double Click 'Internet' or 'Internet Options'.
- Click on the 'Connections' tab.
- Click on the dial-up connection that says 'Linkline'.
- Click on the option 'Dial whenever a network connection is not present'.
- Remove any other dial up connections that you do not use, (Click on the
connection then click 'Remove').
- Click 'OK'.
- Close the Control Panel.
