Please be sure to have your Windows 95 or 98 CD available!

Install Dial-Up Networking for Windows 95/98

  1. Double-click My Computer on your desktop.
  2. Double-click the Control Panel icon.
  3. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  4. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  5. Click the Communications component.
  6. Click the Details... button.
  7. Put a check in the box next to Dial-Up Networking.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Click the OK button again.
  10. Windows 95 will prompt you for your installation diskettes or CD.
  11. Wait for Dial-Up Networking to install.
  12. When you are told to restart, click the OK button.
  13. Click the Start button and choose Shut Down.
  14. Select Restart the computer?
  15. Click the Yes button.
  16. Wait for your system to restart.

Add a Dial-Up Adapter for Windows 95/98

  1. Click the Start button point to Settings and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double click.
  3. Find then double click the Network icon.
  4. Click the Network icon.
  5. Select the Configuration tab.
  6. Click the Add button.
  7. Select Adapter.
  8. Click the Add button.
  9. From the Manufactures: list, choose Microsoft.
  10. From the Network Adapters: list, choose Dial-up Adapter.
  11. Click the OK button.

Remove TCP/IP for Windows 95/98 TCP/IP

  1. Click the Start button point to Settings and choose Control Panel.Double click.
  2. Find then double click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Configuration tab.
  4. Select TCP/IP.
  5. Click the Remove button.
  6. Click the OK button.

Add TCP/IP for Windows 95/98

  1. Click the Start button point to Settings and choose Control Panel. Double click.
  2. Find then double click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Configuration tab.
  4. Click the Add button.
  5. Select Protocol.
  6. Click the Add button.
  7. From the Manufactures: list, choose Microsoft.
  8. From the Network Protocol: list, choose TCP/IP.
  9. Click the OK button.

Add Client for Microsoft Networks for Windows 95/98

  1. Click the Add button.
  2. Select Client.
  3. Click the Add button.
  4. From the Manufacturers: list, select Microsoft.
  5. From the Network Clients: list, select Client for Microsoft Networks.
  6. Click the OK button.


Removing RAS for Windows NT 4.0

Please be sure to have your Windows NT 4 CD available!

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Services tab.
  4. Select Remote Access Service.
  5. Click the Remove button.
  6. Click the Yes button.
  7. Click the Close button.
  8. Click the Yes button to restart your computer.

Re-installing RAS for Windows NT 4.0

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Services tab.
  4. Click the Add button.
  5. From the list of Network services, select Remote Access Service.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. You may be prompted for your Windows NT CD-ROM. Make sure the path to the i386 directory on the CD is correct.
  8. Click the Continue button.
  9. From the RAS Capable Devices drop-down list, choose your modem.
  10. Click the OK button.
  11. Click the Configure button.
  12. Select Dial out only.
  13. Click the OK button.
  14. Click the Network button.
  15. Uncheck NetBEUI.
  16. Check TCP/IP.
  17. Uncheck IPX.
  18. Click the OK button.
  19. Click the Continue button.
  20. Click the Close button.
  21. Click the Yes button to restart your computer.

Removing TCP/IP

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Protocols tab.
  4. Select TCP/IP.
  5. Click the Remove button.
  6. Click the Yes button.
  7. Click the Close button.
  8. You will be warned that you have an invalid RAS configuration.
  9. Click the OK button.
  10. Click the Yes button to restart your computer.

Re-installing TCP/IP

  1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Network icon.
  3. Select the Protocols tab.
  4. Click the Add button.
  5. From the list of Network Protocols, select TCP/IP Protocol.
  6. Click the OK button.
  7. If you are asked whether you wish to use DHCP, click the No button.
  8. You may be prompted for your Windows NT CD-ROM. Make sure the path to the i386 directory on the CD is correct.
  9. Click the Continue button.
  10. If you are asked whether you would like to configure RAS to support the TCP/IP protocol, click the OK button.
  11. Click the Network button.
  12. Uncheck NetBEUI.
  13. Check TCP/IP.
  14. Uncheck IPX
  15. Click the OK button.
  16. Click the Continue button.
  17. Click the Close button.
  18. Click the Yes button to restart your computer.
